(NEW) TAKEDOWN Part 7 – Escape Velocity (7 pages)

This is the second to final chapter. To see the previous chapters, go to the Takedown Page Here.

Oberon Destroyers – Takedown – Part 7 featuring the Quiet Ninja XXIII. This is the last installment, except for one Epilogue – Dinner with the Family. I actually have two more stories in the pipeline (at least half drawn) so I am hoping I can unroll a goodly portion of pages by Christmas and the end of the year, including something that features Prince Crow, weird homeless traveler from another world. Oshogatsu Omedeto!!

(Update) Takedown Part 7 – Escape Velocity (7 pages)

This installment is coming together very quickly. I just finished the pencils, and inking should go quickly. The keynote on this one is simplicity of presentation, and if possible a homage of Wally Wood inks, if I can manage it. Ink the lines and swash on a little light gray highlights, aaaaand its done. Probably in one week, just in time for Thanksgiving. The more color, the longer it takes. This one is going quick. After this installment (part seven) the only thing left to complete for issue Six is one epilogue, “Dinner with the Family.”

You can read past intallments of Takedown with Japan’s Greatest Ninja here for free on this page.

Oberon Destroyers: The Quiet Ninja (23rd of the House of Ugamoto)

(NEW) Takedown Part Six – Showdown with the Reptile (7 pages)

Here is the latest installment of Takedown, part six, Issue Six of Oberon Destroyers. It feels like I have been writing and designing this for three years, becasue I have. You can catch up on the story here on the page collecting all the chapters.

This is the final showdown. After this, there is one more chapter (seven) and one epilogue. Then I move on to Issue Seven, that gathers the entire team in once place.

You can find the story (26 pages, up to part 5) here on this page (Free) Issue 6 – TakeDown

Cover is a tribute to all the old cover artists of the Shadow by Maxwell Grant and others in pulp magazines of the 1930, which somehow works with the Japanese ad copy. I also surprised myself with all the Kaluta and Wrightston style touches. I first encountered their Shadow when I was eight (40 years ago). I loved their horror style on the Shadow, mixed with crime drama and pulp heroics.

Five chapters have already been completed (26 pages so far). Three more chapters left – I have been telling the story in a series of 4-8 page installments. I created a new page to group the entire story in one place for easy viewing. Please see here.

The Quiet Ninja is Japan’s Greatest Ninja and a key player in the secret Occult Wars. He is puritanical in his desire to destroy occult villains that seek to gain the upper hand against humans through sorcery and hocus pocus (see previous issues). His family has been on the frontline of this war for 2000 years. This issue is all action, and gets pretty bloody. Most of the story is silent action sequences with little or no dialogue.

RECAP The Quiet Ninja has infiltrated an enemy base that contains a deadly sphere, now being prepared for an attack against Sacramento and the Oberon Destroyers Head Quarters. After shelling the front gate to create a distraction, the Quiet Ninja hit the ice on skates, He prepares to scale the back end of the station undetected. To see previous episodes, please go here.

OBERON DESTROYERS: TAKE DOWN – PART 2 of 12 FOUR PAGES. Introduces Daisuke, the Ninja’s brother. I would finish it tonight, but I have had a fever for three weeks, so focus is difficult. I am flabbergasted I completed this much. I couldn’t fit Japanese and English onto the same page, so I prepared a short English script of people needing a translation.

TAKE DOWN – PART 2 of 12

Ugamoto Family Jet
Private Air Field, Alaska, 100 miles from Enemy base.
T-Minus 2 weeks to Bomb Clock

Daisuke (Ninja’s younger brother)
RPG will be ready to fly, but can you skate this fast?

Ninja (in the shadows, standing by projector)
I think so.

Yeah but the Olympic record for 500 meters is 35 seconds. Are you that fast?

Yes. I’ve been training on skates for 6 months as a part of regular mission training.

You pants are falling down.

Yeah yeah yeah, already an old man at 33, huh?

Shut up. I broke the speed skating record last month, though in secret. I’ll be fine. How’s the hack going of the enemy’s IT?

It’s going. The enemy’s IT admin and software vendors are all very inattentive, lazy types. There’s tons of backdoors to exploit.

Last year, a sabotage team of agents working for us became the enemy’s software vendor. They actually renewed their contract with the client for one more year.

Oh you are sneaky, big brother. On Game Day, I’ll be taking down the enemy’s IT system by remote. I even have Stuxnet from the NSA.

How did that happen?

I went to school with a guy who’s now an IT manager for Japan’s Self Defense Force HQ. He think’s we’re “Anonymous.”

Careful! Don’t bring the heat. What if he talks?

No worries. Everything was done according to Ugamoto Spy Protocols. He knows nothing. He thinks I’m another classmate. Besides, I had to get creative. You only gave me two weeks.

We’ll, I’ve been busy. Sacramento and Oberon business eats all my time recently. What are you doing after this?

Mom (the pilot) wants to go whale watching off Alaska’s coast. Are you infiltrating the enemy base one more time before the day we turn on the Bomb Clock?

Yeah. In an hour I’m jumping from 4000 feet into the Enemy Base Zone, and going in one more time before we take them down.

Hey you kids, I have hot tea. Shall I heat up some curry rice too?

(NEW) JOEY and KEN – THE NINJA IN THE ROOM (4 pages, New Chapter)

New Four Pages, Joey and Ken at Oberon HQ in Placerville, they talk about the Ninja and go to lunch. A little humorous. To read more about the NInja, Ken’s adventures in Sacramento, odd alien visitor Prince Crow, and Joey’s giant, please see Free Sample in the PDF section while these issues are still free.

NOTE – This comic features a character from Japan who does not speak fluent or perfect English. His speech patterns are based on 7 years of observing approx. 7500 students in Japan. Margaret Cho at the Golden Globes was recently bullied by PC bogus “anti-colonialists” for portraying an Asian who does not speak perfect English, to a monolingual, monocultural audience that is phobic of foreign accents. So of course they need foreigners to speak perfect English? That is not colonialist, racist and xenophobic? That is the “progressive” view?

This is why I dumped Leftist politics and draw comics. Americans should travel first, then talk.  If you can put all that aside, and just enjoy the damn comic, Have at it!! I had fun, for its worth!  cheers, -b.
KenandJoeyPART2_FNLpage1 KenandJoeyPART2_FNLpage2 KenandJoeyPART2_FNLpage3 KenandJoeyPART2_FNLpage4 UPDATE – 01.16.15 WARNING – SHARED WORLD ALERT Except for stories taking place prior to 1940, all comics on this site are one big story. Everything matches up with everything else, so if you feel like you are missing some key information, feel free to dive into other issues for the answer. Characters are consistent from beginning to end, and these comics are not “stream of conciousness.” In “Joey and Ken,” they talk about the Quiet Ninja XXIII, because he will be joining the Project Oberon team two issues from now. You have free access to 5 issues and additional strips (about 150 pages) about the Oberon Destroyers right here on this site (Free Sample PDF and Webcomics), so you have a half of what you need to figure out the big mysterious reveal soon to come. The subtext of the dialogue is pregnant with clues. Actually, I have dropped major burning clues in plain sight in all the issues, that build to some pretty huge reveals in a few months. The Seige of Sacramento will occur. I put my three main characters in one room for the first time in issue 7 (next issue is 6). Most of the dialogue for issue 7 was written 2 years ago. I am adding new material to the story, but the plot, mission statement, character arcs, and overall game plan has not changed.

(NEW) Japanese Holiday (New Years) Holiday Epic (Ninja History)

Every New Years, NHK produces and broadcasts a lush budget historical epic. I lived over there 14 years, so I remember some good ones. So, this is a bit of a re-broadcast, but it adds a lot more texture to my Ninja character, soon to be in a meeting with Joey and Prince Crow.
